What If?

Have you ever wondered how life might be different if only . . . ?  There are lots of things that can come after that "if":

• if the terrorists had not hijacked those planes on 9/11.
• if the US had not won our independence from England.
• and on a more personal level, if that someone special had not come into your life.

Surprisingly, that last one is what today is about. 

You see, many, many years ago, the Emperor had forbidden young men from marrying.  He felt that marriage made for poor, weak soldiers. One of the local Bishops was bold enough to defy the Emperor and continued to marry young couples.  Because of this, he was scourged, imprisoned, stoned and then beheaded.  The Bishop's name?  Valentine.

I'm so glad the Emperor's desired way of life did not succeed.  How about you?
