Woo Hoo Hoo! We Have a Champion!

Our son, with Dad's help of course, had been working on his Pinewood Derby car for weeks. They put a lot of work into it and it turned out beautifully. See:

Yes, my son is proud of his father; hence, the Air Force insignia as the decoration. Pretty cool, don't you think?!!! (Can you tell even Mom helped too? Yep, there was a cutter file involved in the decorating process too!)

There were a whole lot of hopes and dreams riding on that car. I knew that since Bryce's car did so well last year (2nd in the pack, 3rd in the district and 1st in the council) that he would expect a trophy again this year. I kept telling him not to get his hopes up, that just because he won last year that didn't mean he would this year. I even told him that just like we learned from our mistakes last year, so would every other boy in the pack. I was so afraid he would be disappointed.

Well, I had nothing to fear. His car was fast! It was definitely faster than last year. We know this because the system is completely computerized with lasers and times down to the thousandth of a second. So, this year, he placed first in the pack. We certainly have a champion in the family. See:

He's going to the district races in a couple of weeks. (And, yes, I keep telling him he might not win there. You never know.)

Until next time, Happy Creative Time!

That is so exciting, Our first Pine wood Derby is in March, thankfully my hubby will have time between TDYs to come home and work on it with him. Any tips for a newbie like us? Did you make the cut file? (I assume that the file was a stencil for the AF insignia)
So much fun! Congrats again.
