Happy Friday!

I don't know about you but I feel like I've really earned this week-end! I only wish I could say I have the week-end off but I can't. Bryan's got Air Force and there's a lot going on this week-end too.

First, there's the used uniform sale at the kids' school. I really love that my kids have to wear uniforms to school!!! There's no more arguing and fussing about what to wear to school each day. Woo Hoo! That is such a huge blessing in our home. The bad part about it is that those uniforms are expensive if you have to buy them brand new. So, getting a deal and a jumpstart on next year's school clothes is a must even if I do have to get the kids up and out the door very early on a Saturday morning!

Then, Sunday is Girl Scout Sunday and Ilaria has her heart set on it. So, we have to get up really early again on Sunday but the girl will get another patch to sew on her vest and it'll make her happy so that is worth it too.

I hope you all have an awesome week-end too. Just to prove that, here's a little gift for your cutting pleasure:

A pączek is a deep-fried piece of dough shaped into a flattened sphere and filled with confiture or other sweet filling. Pączki are usually covered with powdered sugar, icing or bits of dried orange zest.

Although they look like bismarcks or jelly doughnuts, pączki (pronounced ponchki but mistakenly pronounced poonchki or punchki)are made from especially rich dough containing eggs, fats, sugar and sometimes milk. They feature a variety of fruit and creme fillings and can be glazed, or covered with granulated or powdered sugar. Prunes and rose-petal jam[citation needed] are traditional fillings, but many others are used as well, including lemon, strawberry, Bavarian cream, blueberry, custard, raspberry and apple.

Pączki have been known in Poland at least since the Middle Ages. Jędrzej Kitowicz has described that during the reign of August III, under the influence of French cooks who came to Poland, pączki dough was improved, so that pączki became lighter, spongier, and more resilient.
