Good News, Sad News

Today was the day for which my son has been waiting for about six weeks now. You see, he did so well in his pack's Pinewood Derby that they decided to send him to the District Pinewood Derby.

He was so nervous about the race. He couldn't wait for the Tigers to be done so that he could finally see his car in the competition. And, yes, the competition was stiff. 58 boys had cars in the Cub Scout division and each car had to race 4 times. So, you can tell, we were there for a while.

When it was all said and done, though, Bryce came out proud and smiling!

He placed 3rd and gets to go compete in the Council Pinewood Derby. Not too shabby for the first time he's made a car and competed. He has to wait two weeks for the council derby and, he's already hoping he'll get to go to Tallahasee for the state competition. LOL! We're just proud he placed at the district contest. No one from his pack has ever won a trophy at the district level. So, we've had the "don't get your hopes up" talk and he knows it's an honor just to go to the council level competition. He's excited nonetheless. That's our good news.

The sad news is that one of the teachers at our kids' school has passed away. While she was ill, her passing was sudden and I'm sure she will be dearly missed. Please say a prayer for her, her family, and all the students whom she influenced in her career.

I hope you all have a beautiful week-end. Happy Scrapping!
