Have you signed up for the newest round of the Save Gas, Stay Home and Scrap Challenge yet? This month's topic is "School." It can be anything related to school--the first day of school, back to school, off to college, or even "my life lessons." So, if you'd rather scrap about something you have learned outside of the walls of a classroom, that's just grand too. There's a lot of possibilities here. So, what are you going to scrap? I can't wait to see. You'll find all the details right here.
My surprise? Well, last night, when we still expected Fay to be a hurricane and to come directly our way, I overheard my husband telling my son that the house would not be destroyed. He also reassured him that we would be safe and we would mostly likely would not have to hang out in our bathroom.
My kids know that the safest place to be in the event of a tornado is a basement and if you don't have one, you should go to a first-floor interior room without windows. For us, that's our downstairs bathroom.
Okay, fast forward to today. Fay, the Category 1 to Category 2 Hurricane that was supposed to hit us directly today, didn't. She never became a hurricane and she also changed course and hit farther south and then went farther inland. So, our big storm was just a windy, gloomy day with about 10-20 minutes of rain. That was, indeed, a pleasant surprise, but this was not my surprise.
No, I got my surprise when I went to use the downstairs bathroom and needed to get out some more toilet paper. I opened the cabinet door and this is what I found:
Yep, my surprise was my son's "Freak Show," as he calls it, and his rock collection. You see, my son wanted to us to be safe but he also wanted all his precious treasures to be safe as well.
