Happy Memorial Day Week-end

May I please ask a few favors of you this week-end?

I know it's going to be a busy week-end with lots of fun things happening. We're very excited and ready for it to begin ourselves. The only thing left for me to do is rearrange my refrigerator so the watermelon can get cold. Hey, how can you kick off summer without watermelon? LOL!

So that brings me to my first favor. Please stay safe while you celebrate. Summer is a lot less fun when you have to spend a chunk of it recuperating from injuries.

As for my other favors, please take a moment to talk to your children about the real reason for the holiday. And please pray for the families who have lost their heroes too. As an Air Force family, we've known too many heroes who have given their all for us. Our hearts really go out to them.

Now, for this week-end's free file:

While it is offered freely here, it is still governed by my Terms of Use. I really appreciate you recommending my blog to your friends so that they may download the file for themselves.

Happy Creative Time!

Thankyou for the freebie file and although we don't remember our Fallen this weekend, ours is called Anzac Day on the 25th April, I would like to thank your family for sacrifices made for all of us.

for those who didn't know.....
Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May (May 31 in 2010). Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. men and women who died while in the military service.[1] First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War (it is celebrated near the day of reunification after the Civil War), it was expanded after World War I.

The first observance was in Waterloo, New York on May 5, 1866
At the end of the Civil War, communities set aside a day to mark the end of the war or as a memorial to those who had died.
These observances coalesced around Decoration Day, honoring the Confederate dead, and the several Confederate Memorial Days. Many of the states of the U.S. South refused to celebrate Decoration Day, due to lingering hostility towards the Union Army and also because there were relatively few veterans of the Union Army who were buried in the South

The alternative name of "Memorial Day" was first used in 1882. It did not become more common until after World War II, and was not declared the official name by Federal law until 1967.
