Paper Trimmer, Anyone?

Okay, Friends, I am in need of your help here. I desperately need a new paper trimmer. The one I had considered my best one is now ripping my pictures and paper instead of cutting them.

I've been researching trimmers and I just can't decide which one to try next. I say that because I have tried many different kinds over the years and have never really been totally satisfied with any of them.

So, please, please, please tell me what is your favorite and why. Seriously, point me in the right direction!

Happy Creative Time!

Just a thought
have you tried cutting aluminum foil
I know it will sharpen punches so it might help the blade on your paper cutter - sounds like it could be dull
worth trying but might not work

I can't help you here, I'm looking also. Hopefully someone has some good advise.

I use my Creative Memories cutters a lot. I like the small one for close work and the 12" cutter is great for removing the centres out of papers so as to avoid waste when making mats as you can place the blade anywhere. I also use an A3 generic paper trimmer for large cardstock and papers

I was asking the same question last year. I ended up getting the Tonic 12" Trimmer and yes, I love it. I did a lot of reading reviews and this one seemed to always get great reviews. I like that it doesn't have a mat that you have to replace, like my old Fiskars did. It cuts accurately and can trim off just a hair. I've had mine for just over a year and it still cuts great. Hope this helps.

i just got the brand new fiskars trimmer - its got a bigger footprint - over 6" instead of 4" and the arm can lock into place. So far I like it a LOT - I didn't get it at Amazon, but the link to it is http://www.amazon.com/Fiskars-01-002349-Premium-12-Inch-Crafters/dp/B001IDYT7S

hth :)

I love my 12" Tonic paper cutter! I also have the smaller one that's about 4.5" x 9" I really like it because it's more portable and has 1/4 inch measuring increments. I look forward to hearing which cutter you choose.
God bless,
Ann

I also love the Tonic Trimmer. I bought the 6" because I was trying to save storage space in the closet but find that I use it so much that I just leave it out so now I wish I had bought the 12".

I have a purple cow. The girls at the PT retreat last year loved it so much they bought one. I have heard great things about the tonic trimmer, so with either one you cannot go wrong, good luck in your search and let us know what you end up getting.

Been there, done that. After much research, I ended up getting a DAHL 507. It has a self sharpening blade. You can also get a version that has a scallop and perforating blade. The only thing I don't like, is it doesn't have a scoring blade. So I just use my old Fiskars for that. I got the smaller version and I slightly regret that as you can't measure beyond 6.5 inches, but it will cut paper that is about 12.5 inches wide. BUT I LOVE LOVE LOVE the blade. It never gives my fuzzy or slightly off-kelter cuts like EVERY other cutter I have had since it doesn't have a cutting mat that wears down into a groove. You can also cut multiple sheets at a time too. It has German percision!

Good luck on your quest! I pondered at least six months and asked on several forums before making my decision.

I LOVE my Tonic cutter - the 6x12 one. I've had it for about 7 years and haven't had a single issue with it. Wish I had room for the 12x12 one, but the one I have has worked just fine for me! Good Luck!!

PS I also have the 4x6 tonic too :)

I've heard good things about the Carl Bidex. That's the one I'm thinking about buying. But I will be checking the Tonic, Purple Cow and DAHL 507 now!
