Blasts from the Past

Thanks to the internet, I had not one but two blasts from the past this week-end! Yep, two people from my past tracked me down and sent me messages.

The first one took me completely by surprise. Seriously! I hadn't spoken to this person in 30 years. Well, "spoken" isn't exactly the word here as I've never actually spoken with nor have I ever met this friend in person. You see, she was my pen pal. We wrote quite a few letters back and forth to each other.

Honestly, all the details of our relationship kind of faded like memories tend to do after thirty years. So, piecing the parts together was a bit sketchy for me until she sent me a cell phone picture of my 6th grade school photo. Eek! There was no doubt about it and no other way she could have got my picture from way back then. LOL!

At the time we were writing each other, she lived in Connecticut and I lived in Michigan. Now, 30 years later, we both live in the same state. She lives just a few hours drive from me. What a small world!

Oh, but that's not the end of the story. Another friend--actually, a "sister" of sorts--contacted me too.

When I was in college, we were required to either take 14 credit hours of boring classes like anthropology and such or travel abroad for 3 months. Of course, I jumped at the chance to travel. Who wouldn't? I spent several months in beautiful Guadeloupe. It's a province of France located in the Caribbean. It is so gorgeous there and I learned so much! (Yes, if you remember my Fact or Fiction Game from the Paperthreads' Forum, this is where I lived with a witch doctor! LOL!)

Anyway, while I was there, I lived with two different families as a sort of exchange student. Well, one of my "sisters" looked me up this week-end and sent me a message. What a surprise! And no, she wasn't the witch doctor's daughter. Her mom was actually a retired dentist.

Oh, what memories I revisited this past week-end!

How about you? Are there any old memories just itching to come to the surface? Have you scrapped them? Better yet, have you tried to track down the people from your old memories?

Until next time, Happy Creative Time!

Watching the grand kids brings back some memories from when their parents were little. Like painting their faces with permant markers, trying to help out with home projects... ugh! :)

I have recently got back in touch with an old school friend - we both left school at 18 in 1969 and lost touch after about another year or so. The site friends reunited makes it much easier to get back in touch with people if you are so minded. Have to agree with Elizabeth, though, there are some people I guess I wouldn't want to find again, lol.
