Burying St. Joseph

I’m working hard on some files this week-end. I hope to get them finished up and in the store soon. I hope you’ll like them as much as I do.

While my husband is gone this week-end, in addition to his Guard duty, he is also working hard around our house in Battle Creek. Unfortunately, it hasn’t sold yet but we have hope.

There have been a few showings and even a couple of second looks. We just haven’t had an offer yet. It’s a nice house in a fantastic neighborhood. You couldn’t ask for better neighbors. One of our neighbors there has MS. He can barely walk but as soon as he found out my husband was being deployed to Iraq, he took it upon himself to mow our lawn. He didn’t know us. We had only lived there about a month. He didn’t ask to be paid. He just did it. The Suttons will forever hold a special place in my heart and I will always pray for them. So, who wouldn’t want to live by them?

We’re also praying for the future owners of our house. We know they’ll enjoy living there as much as we did. We know someone will love that house and buy it. We’d just like it to happen soon. So, we bought a St. Joseph statue. While my husband was planting some flowers to add curb appeal to the house, he also buried St. Joseph last night.

St. Joseph is the patron saint of homes and families. We’ve heard that if you bury a statue of St. Joseph on your property and pray, he’ll intercede for you and the place will sell. With the real estate market being what it is, I know several others who are burying St. Joseph as well and many of them aren’t Catholic. I know some think it’s just a superstition but . . . our realtor called and we have another showing tomorrow. Now, if they’d just bring an offer along too, we’d be ecstatic.

We prayed very hard for someone to be prepared to buy our home last summer. We also tried extra hard to follow the commandments so we'd be worthy of that blessing. We sold in two months which really is a miracle! I know prayer works and will work for you, too! Good luck!
