Boo's for Tampa

Normally, I try to keep my blog on the fun and uplifting side.  I'm sorry that today is the exception.

Today, I feel the need to boo the City of Tampa, the Tampa City Council and the powers that be in the Tampa Police Department. Yes, a big, humongous BOO to my community leaders!  Oh, and a question too.  Just what in the world are you thinking?

I've written before that my community is less than kind to its poor and yes, that they have technically made it illegal to feed them.  That post is here.

Well, I am even more deeply ashamed and dismayed that they have begun enforcing that ordinance on a larger scale.  See:

kaysministry.org

I realize that the homeless can be dirty and may have made some bad choices in their lives.  Who hasn't?

I also realize that the Republican National Convention will be here in Tampa in 5 months and the city wants to make a good impression for it.  But, seriously????

What kind of impression does a city make when it wants all the poor people to just disappear?  Where do they expect them to go?  It's not like they have money to go somewhere else.  Where is Tampa's common sense?  Where is Tampa's sense of common decency?

"Any society, any nation, is judged on the basis of how it treats
its weakest members--the last, the least, the littlest."
Cardinal Roger Mahony

Yes, I am very ashamed and dismayed.  I'm not certain how Kay's Ministry will proceed from here but I know that we will.

So, if you pray, please say a few for us and for the city of Tampa.  We could definitely use them.

Make sure you come back tomorrow when I'll have some Yay's instead of Boos.  Until then, Happy Creative Time!

Just remember to speak your rights... VOTE... Not just in the Presidential elections, but at your local and state level where your voice/vote will be heard. Get them out of there and elect someone who will do good.
