The Things Kids Do & Say

I hope you had a safe and fun holiday week-end and that your new year will be fabulous.  We had fun and enjoyed spending time with our neighbors.

We also went to Busch Gardens this week-end.  Right now, our favorite part of the park is the new Walkabout Way where you can feed kangaroos and wallabies.  Each time we go, we end up there first.  It's fun and amazing. I know that kangaroos have powerful legs and sharp claws and I'm sure they can inflict a lot of hurt if they wanted.  Yet, these are so gentle and it's amazing to get up close and be able to feed and pet them. See:

Here is one that Bryce says looks like a giant rat:

The funny part is that our kids say they LOVE roller coasters but when I ask them what was the best part of the day, they always say the kangaroos.

Of course, we had to go back to the flamingos to see if Bryan's girlfriend (#13) remembered him.  Sure enough, she was still in the pen but no matter how hard Bryan tried, #13 wouldn't come close.  Ilaria said, "Ha!  She dumped you, Dad."

Here's a picture of Bryce and his flamingo friend:

The other funny thing happened when we were walking through Africa.  There is a part where they have chimpanzees and they had placed food throughout the exhibit so the chimps were walking around to find something to eat.  As you know, chimpanzees do not have tails and sometimes, their bottoms can be very red.

Well, another man and his daughter came up as we were getting ready to move on.  The little girl exclaimed, "Oh, that poor monkey!  They ripped his tail off."  The dad then told her that no one had ripped off its tail, that chimpanzees don't have tails.  To this, she asked "Then why is there a red hole there?"

We moved on quickly and were very glad we didn't have to answer that question.  LOL!

Happy Creative Time!
