What is That?

I love to sleep in!  "In" being until 7:00 am.  Yet, today, I am grateful I got up at 5:00 to walk with the hubby and the dog.  That's our normal routine when Hubby is not driving to work.  The dog and I walk him to the bus stop and wait with him until the bus comes and then we continue our walk.

Today, as we started out the door, I noticed something in the street.  My hubby did too and asked me what it was.  At first, I thought it was a piece of palm tree.  Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.  It was roadkill.  More specifically it was one of these:

and that posed a big dilemma for us.  I didn't want it left there for my kids to see.  First, they would be upset and sad about it.  Then, they'd want to get close and look at it in all its gory.  (Eeew!)  To make it worse, I'd hear about it for days!

So, I decided the hubby had to get rid of it immediately.  Yep, in his dress clothes.  LOL!  Oh, and it couldn't be put in our trash can either.  Nope!  The kids take out our trash and they dump the bunny's potty box in that trash can twice a day, every day.  So, just where do we get rid of it?  The neighbors'!

So, today, I am thankful I have kind neighbors who don't mind us dumping roadkill in their trash in the wee morning hours.  LOL!  It sounds like a lot of hassle but it gave me lots of peace and quiet.  Phew!

Now, can you tell me just what that creature was?  I'll give a free file to the first person who guesses correctly and I'll also host a random drawing of all those who guess too.  Good luck!

Until next time, Happy Creative Time!

Hi Ileana
I took a break from working on my challenges and was checking on pt and saw your blog post

Now for your morning surprise (you do have nice neighbors and a super hero who would clean up rk)
To me it looked like a ground hog that is common here but the don't have long tails and found out there aren't any groundhogs in florida so I look further I think it could be a nutria - so if that was your surprise of the day I learned about an animal I never heard of before

Poor little thing. :( Right now we see way too many beautiful white tail deers beside the roads. Breaks my heart to see any road kill :(
I'm going to guess is it a muskrat? First thought it was a beaver but then I looked at its tail so I knew that wasn't right.

Looks kinda like a nutra rat to me! There were tons of 'em when I lived down in Louisiana...especially around lakes and swampy areas.
