A Nutria

Congratulations to Deb C for being the first to correctly guess our roadkill surprise, a nutria!  Congratulations also goes to:

for winning the random drawing.  If both of you lovely ladies could e-mail me with your file request and the format your cutter uses, I'll send you your prize asap.  Please e-mail me at ijr41ug @ yahoo.com (please, take out the spaces).

A nutria is like a very large rat.  It can weigh close to 40 pounds and it's body can be 24 inches long with a 18 inch long tail.  I tried to find a picture that shows their size relative to something else but that proved too difficult.  I did find a picture of some earrings that somebody made from their teeth.

Hmm.  I'm not sure I would wear those and yes, their teeth are naturally orange.  Go figure!.  LOL!

I think the nutria are kind of cute myself but I've never had any trouble with them.  They are an invasive species, though, and can do a lot of damage and can also carry diseases.  They are originally from South America and were brought here to be raised for their fur.  Legend has it that some escaped during a hurricane and have quickly made themselves at home.

Also, we don't have any ground hogs nor muskrats in Florida.  I thought everything lived here but, apparently, some animals actually like the cold.  LOL!

Oh, and there's more to yesterday's story:

I told "Mrs. Neighbor" (one half of our friendly neighbors who own the trash can) about the roadkill and why we put it in their trash.  She told me she would tell her husband.  Apparently, she forgot to do that.

So, "Mr. Neighbor" went to put some trash in his can and saw this tail sticking up and freaked out.  He went and got another neighbor to come and take a look. Together, they debated as to how it got in the trash can and whether or not it was still alive.  They even argued about grabbing its tail to see if it was still alive but neither of them were "crazy enough to do that."  LOL!

Then, at about midnight, Mr. Neighbor was talking about it to his wife and she started laughing and had to confess that she knew all about it and forgot to tell him.  LOL!

And, for today's dose of gratitude:  I'm still grateful for kind and friendly neighbors and I'm also grateful you all played along with me.  It was fun!

Until next time, Happy Creative Time!

LOL at both the story, poor Mr. neighbor, and Lisa for running them down.

Great stories! Love them!

Congrats to the winners. I didn't guess right...I don't think I've ever heard of that one. That was such a funned story about the Nr. Neighbor...I could just see that happening.
