Inspiration or All Planned Out?

So, in thinking about the next KNK Swap and my lists (things to do, files to make, projects I want to create) I am sometimes overwhelmed with where to begin because, honestly, there's so much I want to do and so little time.

What about you? How do you go about your creative endeavors? Do you wait for the right inspiration to hit or do you plan it all out?

Right now, I'm being tempted to create files my kids would love--the water park, the amusement park, the zoo, and, believe it or not, rocks. (Yes, I have two kiddos who are very interested in going hunting for pretty rocks. I have to wonder if they think they'll be able to sell them for real money.) And those things are competing with a whole list of files I want to make and projects I should be doing too.

So, tell me, how do you personally choose what to do when there are so many possibilities? Seriously, I'd love to hear your strategies.

Happy Creative Time!

I sign up for all kinds of things and then hope to goodness that inspiration will grab me before the night before it is due LOL

My son loves collecting rocks too :) and shells... has a huge jar of each that he regularly sorts through and admires :)

When I am scrapbooking, I usually do it chronologically. I get all the pics I need for a page and then I sleep on it. I get my best inspiration at night. Seriously. Sometimes it takes me days to put a page together. For my cards, I usually try to put myself in that person's shoes and think what they might like. All the things you are thinking about designing sound awesome. So, whatever works best for you, I'd love to see what you create. Gina

I think I wing it or see something that inspires me, photo, ad, TV, life.

I try to start with a plan, and then I let the ideas percolate in my head, hoping for just the right inspiration to strike. I find that if I start a project based on my plan and then look at it for a day or two, many times a great idea will pop into my head.

I try/want to plan but it usually doesn't work out that well...

Hi I'm a late bloomer when it comes to scrapbooking. I have boxes going back to the birth of my kids. I try to do something new happening, then go bak to something older. I love looking at what others have done. It gives me a steppping stone and I grow from that. Tammy

I start with papers that coordinate, and let ideas develop over time. I often gather coordinating papers and make several cards at a time. For Scrapbooking, I start with the photos and choose papers that go with the colors of the photos. I lay out papers, photos, and elements together for several pages at a time. Then I stack them up, and assemble when the mood strikes and time allows. Sometimes I have to work in stages.
