Happy Sunshine

I am so honored to announce I received not just one but two awards this week. The very delightful Penny of Penny Duncan Creations gave me both of these:

She combined the two of these awards and so I will do the same. The first of the rules is that I am to list ten things that make me happy. So, in no particular order, here are ten of the things that bring me joy:

My awesome husband
My wonderful children

Sunshine

Our dog, Miffy
, and our hamster, Snowball
Having my husband at home

Week-ends

Creating

My faith and the freedom to worship how I choose
Good friends

Kind people

And, in light of that list, I am now passing the awards on to 6 amazingly kind and helpful women I am proud to know. (I could pass it on to many more but the rules say 6 and, let me tell you, it was very hard to narrow this list down to just six amazing bloggers/followers.) Again, in no particular order, here are just six of the amazing women I am proud to know:

Nancy
Michelle
Sandy
Jan
Lori

Congratulations, Ladies, and thank you so much for being so kind.

Now, as for the mass casualty exercise. It has been part of my husband's job to plan an annual mass casualty exercise. As a part of his Air Force duties in the medical unit, he has to come up with a scenario in which a whole lot of people get hurt and then the unit has to practice evacuating and treating the wounded.

He has been doing this for 10 years now and I know it is a lot of work. He spends months planning the exercise and yet the actual exercise lasts just one day.

Prior scenarios involved a terrorist attack on the World Series, a nuclear attack on Hawaii, a chemical attack on US bases in the Middle East, and a biological attack--the plague--in the US. This year's scenario involves a conventional weapons attack on a US base in the Middle East.

And, yes, my kids are excited. They get to pretend to be some of the wounded. Somebody in the unit will apply fake blood and make-up to my kids to make them look like they are actually wounded. Then, they'll act like they are hurt and the unit will go through their routine in evacuating and treating them.

They were going to get to ride in an actual military aircraft but the planes they were going to use have been reassigned to help the people of Haiti. Instead, they will be strapped down to stretchers and loaded onto a plane that isn't in service right now.

I promise to get pictures. I won't promise that I won't ask for two or three of those stretchers and their very useful straps. LOL!

Until next time, Happy Creative Time!

Congrats on the two awards and for passing them on. How cool is that?

Can't wait to see your kids' photos for the mass casualty exercise. I'm sure they are very excited!

First, that is very sweet of you to give me an award :) I am very honored. Second, I cannot wait to see the pictures of your kids in the blood and stuff, like halloween all over again. I can only imagine how much work it is for your husband to plan such an event.
